I rode to work today and it was lovely, except for the soot and the inordinate numbers or dried dead prarie dogs on the shoulder. My only consolation is that they were dried, dead prarie dogs and although that is sad, at least they did not smell.
I have to refine my route because despite the fact that certain portions were easier today there are still some kinks in the plan. It's not a good idea to wake up before seven, ever and if you do wake up before seven try not to wake up sleepyheaded boys or space out and forget your change or play with the dog too much so you can at least leave before quarter after eight. Also don't change your mind about your route 1/4 of the way through because that just wastes time. Next time I will have it down, I think.
I came upon a strange sight on my way out of the city a half mile worth of cars waiting for a light on an isolated suburban road. The drivers all looked impatient and unhappy with the delay. I pedaled past contented because even though it takes longer to get where ever I have to go and I look quite silly in my special biking pants, at least I do not sit around wallowing in my own irritation and unhappiness first thing in the morning.
edited to repair my East Coast confusion
